Pedestrian & Bicycle Injuries
Pasadena Lawyers Advocating for Victims
Since 1994, Tedford & Associates has been representing pedestrian and bicycle accident victims in Pasadena, Glendale and other Los Angeles County communities, seeking maximum compensation for their injuries. They are entitled to the same compensation as any other motor vehicle accidents victims. Many motorists operating cars or trucks do not follow the rules of the road and ignore bicyclists and pedestrians when making turns and in other situations.
We Are Here to Protect Your Rights
While the number of bicycle accident deaths in 2010 was the lowest since 1984, 99 such fatalities occurred, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. Bicyclists are at great risk on the road. Exposed to the elements and traffic with only a safety helmet to protect them, they are at the mercy of passenger cars and trucks.
In 2011 throughout the United States, 677 pedalcyclists (including two-wheeled non-motorized vehicles, tricycles and unicycles) were killed and 48,000 injured in motor vehicle crashes. Nearly 70 percent of these deaths took place in urban areas and nearly 60 percent outside of intersections. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported alcohol involvement in more than 37 percent of the fatal pedalcyclist crashes.
More than 600 pedestrians died as a result of motor vehicle accidents in 2010 in California, 25 percent age 65 and older. If you lost a loved one because of a pedestrian accident, we can file a wrongful death claim against those whose negligence caused the accident.
Determining Fault in a Bicycle or Pedestrian Accident
Bicycle and pedestrian accidents can be complex. Our team of forensic specialists, accident reconstructionists and safety engineers evaluates evidence and determines contributing factors, such as whether the motor vehicle that struck the pedestrian or bicyclist was speeding. We also evaluate dangerous hazards, such as slick sidewalks and improperly lit parking lots. Furthermore, we investigate instances of jaywalking, texting while walking, and other bicyclist and pedestrian behaviors to determine exactly where fault should be assigned.
